Position Details:

Hartford HealthCare St. Vincent's Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to join their Acute Care/Trauma team. The successful candidate will be responsible for various functions including responding to trauma activations, consulting on acute care patients, first assisting in the operating room in robotic, laparoscopic and open cases, bedside procedures, and daily rounding on admitted patients. Our Surgical Services team consists of several APPs who work in collaboration with a variety of surgeons including trauma, general and subspecialty surgeons. Hartford HealthCare St. Vincent's Medical Center has a strong APP presence and encourages growth and development of our APPs.

Role: Physician Assistant

Location: 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, 06606

Setting: Inpatient, surgical subspecialties

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours), 13-hour shifts. Rotating days, nights, weekends, holidays.

Call schedule: No call

Physician Assistants Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, eg, referral to other health team members or specialists.

Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider's practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience : 2 years' PA experience preferred, however we recognize the value in new graduates and are willing to train the right motivated candidate.
